BBC iPlayer usage figures highlight the need for 4G

Published on May 30, 2012 by in UK 4G

BBC’s latest figures on iPlayer usage has shown a 94% increase in mobile users in the past 12 months.

The reports details that in April 2011, iPlayer was accessed eight millions times from mobile devices. That figure rose to 15 million times in April 2012. That’s a total of 15% of all programme requests to iPlayer coming from mobile devices.

BBC iPlayer has a wide demographic range using TV and Radio catch-up services so can be used as an accurate representation of the browsing habits of UK users.

These figures only strengthen the argument for an immediate 4G Service in the UK.
